Osiris is the green-skinned king of the dead, ruler of the Duat and judge of every soul. Once a pharaoh who taught Egypt farming and law, he was murdered by his jealous brother Seth, sealed in a coffin, and later cut into pieces scattered along the Nile. His wife Isis gathered the fragments and revived him long enough to conceive Horus. He now reigns enthroned in the underworld, wrapped as a mummy, holding crook and flail, the white atef crown on his head, weighing each heart against the feather of Ma'at and granting the just eternal life.
