Amun · Hathor · Horus · Khonsu · Montu · Mut · Osiris · Ra · Thoth

Thebes, ancient Waset and modern Luxor, was the magnificent capital of Egypt in parts of the Middle and New Kingdoms and the seat of pharaonic power for centuries; Homer called it the city of a hundred gates. It was the city of Amun, a local god who became Amun-Ra, king of the gods, worshipped with Mut and Khonsu beside the older war god Montu.

On the east bank stood Karnak and Luxor; on the west, the royal tombs, under cliffs sacred to Hathor and ruled by Osiris. Its reliefs show The Divine Birth of the Pharaoh, where Amun visits the queen and Thoth announces the child.
