Khonsu is the moon god who crosses the night sky, his name meaning the traveller for the way he wanders the heavens. The youthful son of Amun and Mut, he completes the Theban Triad worshipped at Karnak. He measures time by the moon's phases and was famed as a healer: in one celebrated tale his statue was sent all the way to a foreign land to drive a demon out of a princess. Marked by the lunar disk cradled in a crescent and the sidelock of youth, he is a god mortals could approach with their most urgent prayers.
