Anubis

Anubis is the jackal god of embalming and the dead, his black-headed form drawn from the wild dogs that prowled the desert cemeteries. He invented mummification, perfecting it on the murdered body of Osiris and so becoming the first to wrap a corpse for eternity. Priests wore his jackal mask as they prepared the dead. In the Hall of Judgment he tends the great scales, weighing each heart against the feather of truth and leading the worthy onward. As Lord of the Sacred Land and Guardian of the Necropolis, he watches over tombs and guides souls safely through the perils of the underworld.
