Aaru
The Field of Reeds, an eternal paradise of green marshes and golden wheat where the righteous dead reside.
Aaru, the Field of Reeds, was the eternal paradise of the righteous dead: an Egypt without sorrow, with green marshes, canals and golden fields where barley grew taller than a man. The Book of the Dead describes it, and tomb paintings such as Sennedjem's at Deir el-Medina show the dead plowing and reaping, while shabti figurines in the tomb answered the call to work in their place.
Only those whose hearts balanced Maat's feather could enter. Anubis guided the soul, Horus led it before Osiris, lord of the field, and Isis and Nephthys stood behind his throne. It is the reward that closes The Weighing of the Heart.
