Loki

Loki is the trickster of Asgard, son of the giant Farbauti and counted among the Aesir as Odin's blood-brother. A shape-shifter, he becomes a mare and bears the eight-legged steed Sleipnir, a salmon, a fly, an old woman. His schemes both help and harm: he cuts off Sif's hair then wins the gods their treasures, including Mjolnir, but he also engineers the death of Baldr by guiding the blind Hodr's mistletoe dart. At Aegir's feast he insults every god in the Lokasenna. For Baldr's murder the gods bind him beneath a venom-dripping serpent until he breaks free at Ragnarok to lead the dead against them.
