Asgard
The shining realm of the Aesir gods, home to Odin's golden halls and the seat of divine power.
Asgard is the shining realm of the Aesir, the gods led by Odin, and the seat of their power. The Prose Edda fills it with golden halls: Gladsheim, where the gods sit in council, Valhalla, which receives the fallen, Baldur's bright Breidablik, and Hlidskjalf, the high seat from which Odin watches every world. Bifrost links it to the lands below. A giant builder raised its walls and was cheated of his fee by Loki's trick, which brought Sleipnir into the world. Here Idun keeps the apples of youth. After Ragnarok, the surviving gods gather on Idavoll, where Asgard once stood.
