Frigg is the queen of the Aesir, wife of Odin and goddess of marriage, motherhood, and foresight. She dwells in Fensalir and knows all fates, though she speaks none of them. When dreams foretell the death of her son Baldr, she rides through all the world extracting oaths from fire, water, metal, stone, beasts, and sickness never to harm him, overlooking only the mistletoe. Loki learns of the gap, fashions a dart of mistletoe, and guides the blind god Hod to throw it, killing Baldr. Frigg then sends Hermod riding to Hel to beg his return, and all things weep for him save one stubborn giantess.
