Forseti is the god of justice and reconciliation, son of Baldr and Nanna. He dwells in Glitnir, a hall with pillars of red gold and a roof of silver that shines from far off. To his seat come all who bring disputes; the Grimnismal says every quarrel brought before him goes away settled, for none leave his judgment unreconciled. He is the divine presider over the assembly, the calm voice that ends feuds with fair words rather than blood. The Frisians revered a like figure, Fosite, lawgiver of their sacred island.
