Freyr

Freyr is the foremost god of the Vanir, son of Njord and brother of Freyja, lord of sunshine, rain, harvests, and peace. He owns the ship Skidbladnir, which folds into a pouch yet holds all the gods, and the boar Gullinbursti with golden bristles that runs across sky and sea. He rules Alfheim, the realm of the light elves, given to him as a tooth-gift. Lovesick for the giantess Gerd, he surrenders his magic sword to win her, and so faces Ragnarok unarmed, falling to the fire-giant Surt. His great temple stood at Uppsala, where Swedes sacrificed for plenty and good years.
