Vanaheim
The mysterious realm of the Vanir gods, associated with fertility, wisdom, and nature's abundance.
Vanaheim is the home of the Vanir, the gods of fertility, wealth and the bounty of land and sea, whom Vafthrudnismal calls wise. The sources name it but never describe it. Its gods enter the myths through war: after the Aesir burned the sorceress Gullveig three times, the Vanir broke through the walls of Asgard, as Völuspá tells. Peace was sealed with hostages. Njord went to live among the Aesir, and his children Freyr and Freya became gods of Asgard, while Hoenir and Mimir were sent to Vanaheim. From the spittle of both peoples the gods made the wise Kvasir. Njord will return home at the end of the world.
