Njord

Njord is the Vanir god of the sea, wind, fishing, and seafaring wealth, dwelling in Noatun, the place of ships. Sent to the Aesir as a hostage after the war between the tribes, he fathers Freyr and Freyja. Skadi chooses him for a husband by his fair feet, but their marriage fails: she cannot bear his shore where gulls wake her, and he cannot stand her mountains and howling wolves, so they part. Sailors and fishermen call on Njord for fair winds, calm waters, and a full catch.
