Kvasir

Kvasir is the wisest of all beings, born when the Aesir and Vanir end their war by spitting into a vat to seal the truce; from that mingled spittle he is shaped. He wanders the worlds answering every question put to him. But the dwarfs Fjalar and Galar murder him, drain his blood, and brew it with honey into the Mead of Poetry, the draught that makes any drinker a poet or scholar. The mead passes to the giant Suttung, until Odin seduces his daughter Gunnlod, drinks all three vats, and escapes in eagle form to carry inspiration back to gods and skalds.
