Characters
Freyr

Alfheim is the luminous home of the light elves, beings that the Prose Edda calls fairer to look upon than the sun. Unlike the dark elves, who dwell down in the earth, they belong to the bright upper world. According to the poem Grímnismál, the gods gave Alfheim to Freyr in ancient times as a tooth-gift, the present a child received on cutting its first tooth, so the Vanir god of sun, rain and harvest became its lord. Snorri names it among the dwellings in the heavens, but beyond that the sources say little, and no surviving myth is set there.
