Idun

Idun is the goddess who guards the golden apples that keep the Aesir young, wife of the poet-god Bragi. Without her fruit the gods would wither and grey. When Loki, cornered by the eagle-giant Thiazi, lures her out of Asgard with talk of finer apples, Thiazi snatches her away to his hall Thrymheim. The gods age and stiffen at once and force Loki to retrieve her. Borrowing Freyja's falcon cloak, he turns Idun into a nut and flies her home while the Aesir kindle a fire at the walls that burns the pursuing Thiazi from the sky.
