Modi, whose name means courage or wrath, is a son of Thor, brother to Magni. After Ragnarok, when Thor falls slaying the Midgard Serpent, the Vafthrudnismal foretells that Modi and Magni inherit Mjolnir and carry it into the renewed world. He belongs to the handful of gods who survive the final battle, the next generation taking up the hammer of thunder. He stands for the fury and forward drive of the warrior, the will to press into the fray without flinching, a fitting heir to the storm-god's might.
