Clytemnestra is the queen of Mycenae and wife of Agamemnon, who never forgives him for sacrificing their daughter Iphigenia. While he wages war at Troy she rules with her lover Aegisthus, and on his triumphant return she snares him in a robe and strikes him dead in his bath. Her vengeance binds the house of Atreus tighter in blood, until her son Orestes turns the knife on her.
