Pollux is the deathless son of Zeus, twin to the mortal Castor, and a peerless boxer among the Argonauts who slays the brutal king Amycus. When Castor falls in battle, Pollux begs his father not to live on without him. Zeus lets the brothers share his immortality, dwelling on alternate days in the heavens and the Underworld, and sets them in the sky as the constellation Gemini.
