Paris is a prince of Troy who judges the contest of the goddesses, awarding Aphrodite the golden apple in return for the most beautiful woman alive. That prize is Helen, wife of Menelaus, and his abduction of her launches the thousand ships of the Trojan War. A finer archer than warrior, he slays Achilles with an arrow guided to the hero's heel.
