Cassandra is the daughter of Priam, gifted prophecy by Apollo and then cursed by him, when she spurned his love, so that no one would ever heed her words. She foresees the fall of Troy and the danger of the wooden horse, but her warnings are dismissed as madness. Taken as Agamemnon's prize after the city burns, she is murdered alongside him at Mycenae.
