Hecuba is the wife of Priam and queen of Troy, mother of Hector, Paris, and Cassandra. She watches her sons fall, her city burn, and her daughter Polyxena sacrificed at Achilles' tomb. Enslaved by the Greeks, she takes savage revenge on the king who murdered her last son, and in some tellings is transformed into a howling dog before the end.
