Deiphobus is a son of Priam and one of Troy's bravest defenders, second only to Hector among his brothers. After Paris is slain, he takes Helen as his wife, earning the bitterest of fates. On the night Troy falls, Helen betrays him to Menelaus, who finds him in his bed and butchers him; Aeneas later meets his mutilated shade in the Underworld.
