Judgment of Paris

One golden apple, one fateful choice, and the most beautiful woman alive, set the world to war.

At the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, the goddess Strife tosses down a golden apple for the fairest, and Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite demand the Trojan prince Paris judge between them. He chooses Aphrodite and her bribe: Helen, the wife of Menelaus. His theft of her breaks the sacred bond of hospitality and launches the thousand ships of the Trojan War.
