Heracles is the mightiest of all heroes, a son of Zeus whose strength is matched only by his suffering under Hera's relentless hatred. Driven mad to murder his own family, he atones through the Twelve Labors, slaying the Nemean Lion and the Hydra, capturing Cerberus, and cleansing the world of monsters. Betrayed at last by a poisoned robe, he burns upon his pyre and is raised to Olympus, the only hero to become a god.
