Girdle of Hippolyta
The war-belt of the Amazon queen, given by Ares, a symbol of her authority and power.
The golden girdle was given to Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons, by her divine father Ares as a symbol of her sovereignty and martial prowess. When King Eurystheus demanded that Heracles retrieve it as his ninth labor, he sailed to Amazonia. Hippolyta, impressed by his fame, agreed to give it willingly, but Hera disguised herself as an Amazon and spread the rumor that Heracles planned to abduct their queen, triggering a battle that ended with Hippolyta's death.
