Prometheus and Pandora

A Titan steals fire for humankind, and the gods answer with a beautiful curse.

Prometheus loves mortals more than the gods do, tricking Zeus at sacrifice and stealing fire from heaven to lift humanity out of the dark. In fury Zeus chains him to a crag for an eagle to feast upon, and sends to earth the first woman, Pandora, with a sealed jar. When her curiosity opens it, every sorrow escapes into the world, and only Hope remains behind.
