Vali

Vali is the avenger of Baldur, son begotten by Odin upon the giantess Rind for one purpose. After Loki engineers Baldur's death by the blind god Hodr's hand, Odin seeks vengeance, but the law forbids killing within the hall unwashed. Vali is born and within a single night grows to manhood, neither combing his hair nor washing his hands until he has slain Hodr and avenged his brother. He is one of the few gods to survive Ragnarok, dwelling afterward on the cleansed fields of Idavoll with the children of the old order.
