Atreus is the king of Mycenae locked in a murderous feud with his brother Thyestes over the throne and a golden lamb. To avenge his brother's treachery, he kills Thyestes' sons and serves them to their father at a feast. The horror of that meal calls down a curse that will haunt his sons Agamemnon and Menelaus and their children after them.
