Imsety

Imsety is one of the four sons of Horus, and alone among them he wears a human face while his brothers bear the heads of baboon, jackal, and falcon. He guards the liver of the dead, sealed in a canopic jar set toward the south, and the great goddess Isis watches over him in turn. As one corner of the sacred four, he forms a compass of protection around the mummy, ensuring the deceased keeps every part of the body, and every part of the self, on the journey into eternity.
