Duamutef

Duamutef is the jackal-headed son of Horus, one of the four guardians of the canopic jars, and his charge is the stomach of the mummified dead. His name means 'He Who Adores His Mother,' and he stands at the eastern face of the burial, aligning the body with the rising sun. The fierce war-goddess Neith protects him in turn. In the funerary spells he keeps the dead supplied and whole, a watchful sentinel guarding the organs the body will need when it lives again.
