Atlas leads the Titans in their war against the Olympians, and for this Zeus lays upon him an eternal sentence: to stand at the western edge of the world and bear the weight of the heavens upon his shoulders. Mighty and tireless, he is briefly tricked into freedom by Heracles, and at last turned to stone, the mountain range that still carries his name.
