Valhalla
Odin's magnificent hall where slain warriors feast and train for the final battle of Ragnarok.
Valhalla, the hall of the slain, is Odin's great hall in Asgard, roofed with shields and raftered with spear shafts, its benches strewn with mail coats. Grímnismál says it has five hundred and forty doors, and through each one eight hundred warriors will march out together to face the wolf at Ragnarok. Its guests are the einherjar, warriors who fell in battle and were chosen by the valkyries, such as Gondul and Hildr. Each day they fight one another in the courtyard, and each night they feast on the boar Saehrimnir, cooked every day and whole again by evening, and drink the mead that flows from the goat Heidrun.
