Shu

Shu is the god of air, light, and the empty space that makes the world. First child of the creator Atum, born with his sister Tefnut, he is the breath of life itself. When the sky goddess Nut and the earth god Geb embraced too closely, Shu thrust himself between them and lifted Nut high overhead, holding the heavens apart from the earth so that creation could exist. He stands forever beneath the sky in that pose, often shown as a man with a feather on his head, the very feather that writes his name. With Tefnut he is parent to Nut and Geb.
