Mount Bakhu
The mountain on which the sky rests, on the sun's horizon, where a fiery serpent lies in wait for Ra's boat.
Bakhu is the mythic mountain on which the sky rests. In spell 108 of the Book of the Dead, which names the powers of the West, it stands where the sun sets: Sobek, its lord, has a temple there, and a fiery serpent on its summit glares at Ra in the evening, halting his boat until it is subdued. Many modern books instead put Bakhu in the east, as the sunrise mountain paired with western Manu.
Aker guards the horizon, Shu holds up the sky, and Nut swallows the sun at dusk and bears it at dawn as Khepri, hailed as Harmakhis, Horus in the horizon.
