Fjalar

Fjalar is a dwarf, brother of Galar and brewer of the Mead of Poetry. The two invite the wise being Kvasir, made from the gods' mingled spit, then murder him and drain his blood into the vats Son and Bodn and the kettle Odrerir, mixing it with honey to make a mead that grants poetry and wisdom to any who drink. They later kill the giant Gilling by drowning and crush his wife with a millstone, until Gilling's son Suttung forces them to surrender the mead as blood-price. Fjalar's killings set in motion the whole tale of how Odin steals the mead and brings poetry to gods and men.
