Egyptian mythology

Nun

The primordial waters of chaos from which all creation emerged, surrounding the world at the edge of existence.

Characters
Amun · Atum · Heh · Kek · Naunet · Nun · Ra

Nun was the primordial water of chaos, dark and boundless, from which all creation emerged. It never disappeared: it still surrounds the world at the edge of existence, beyond the sky and beneath the earth. The Nile flood was thought to rise from it, and sacred temple lakes stood for it. In the Book of the Dead, Atum warns that one day all will sink back into it.

As a god, Nun was the eldest, father of the gods, and at Hermopolis he belonged to the Ogdoad, with Naunet, Heh, Kek and Amun. Atum and Ra rose from his waters. In The Destruction of Mankind, Ra seeks his counsel.
