Hurled from Olympus and left lame, the smith-god Hephaestus answers rejection with brilliance, crafting wonders no other god can make. He traps his mother Hera in an inescapable golden throne until the gods beg his return, and snares his unfaithful wife Aphrodite and her lover Ares in a net of his own forging. From his anvil come the treasures of the gods and a revenge served cold in gold and fire.
