Beneath the towering volcano of Mount Etna lay the forge of Hephaestus, god of the smith's fire. Here, assisted by the one-eyed Cyclopes, Arges, Brontes, and Steropes, he crafted the mightiest weapons of the gods: the thunderbolts of Zeus, the armor of Achilles, the aegis, and countless divine artifacts. The mountain's eruptions were said to be sparks from his immortal anvil.
