Ymir

Ymir is the first being, the primordial frost giant born when the ice of Niflheim met the fire of Muspelheim in the void of Ginnungagap. From his sweat sprang the first giants, a man and woman from beneath his arm, and a six-headed son from his legs. He fed on the milk of the cow Audhumla, who licked the first god, Buri, from the salty ice. Buri's grandsons Odin, Vili, and Ve slew Ymir, and his blood drowned nearly all the giants in a flood. From his corpse they built the world: earth from flesh, sea from blood, sky from skull, clouds from brain.
