Helios is the blazing sun made flesh, who rises each dawn from the eastern ocean and drives his four fiery horses across the heavens, seeing all that gods and mortals do. It is he who tells Demeter of Persephone's abduction and exposes the affair of Ares and Aphrodite. When his reckless son Phaethon begs to drive the chariot, the boy's fall scorches the earth.
