Eos is the Dawn, who opens the gates of the east each morning and scatters the night so her brother Helios may ride forth. Forever falling in love with mortal men, she carries them away as her lovers, and once, forgetting to ask for eternal youth as well as eternal life, she dooms her beloved Tithonus to wither away forever.
