Memnon is the king of Ethiopia, son of the dawn-goddess Eos and the Trojan prince Tithonus, who comes in shining armor forged by Hephaestus to defend Troy. He slays Antilochus, the son of Nestor, before facing Achilles in a duel watched by the gods. Achilles cuts him down, and his mother Eos weeps such tears that they fall as the morning dew, while Zeus grants him immortality.
