Chrysaor leaps fully formed from the neck of Medusa when Perseus beheads her, born alongside his brother the winged horse Pegasus, both fathered by Poseidon. His name means 'he of the golden sword.' Joined with the Oceanid Callirhoe, he sires the three-bodied giant Geryon, whose cattle Heracles would one day come to seize.
