Andromeda is the daughter of Cassiopeia and Cepheus, chained to a coastal rock as a sacrifice to a sea-monster sent to punish her mother's boast. Perseus, flying home with Medusa's head, sees her and falls in love. He slays the beast and claims her as his bride, and she is set among the stars as a constellation in the end.
