The fleece of the divine ram Chrysomallos, symbol of kingship and the ultimate prize of the Argonauts.
The Golden Fleece came from the divine ram Chrysomallos, sent by the gods to carry the young prince Phrixus to safety in Colchis. Upon arriving, Phrixus sacrificed the ram and hung its fleece in the sacred grove of Ares, where it was guarded by a sleepless dragon. It became the symbol of kingship and divine favor, the prize that Jason and the Argonauts crossed the known world to claim.
