Verdandi is the second of the three Norns at the Well of Urd, her name meaning becoming, the present in the act of happening. With Urd, who holds the past, and Skuld, who veils what shall be, she tends the roots of Yggdrasil, watering the World Tree from the sacred well so its branches do not wither. The Norns carve fate into wood and weave the threads of every life. Verdandi is the moment as it turns, the loom on which what has been is spun into what is, the only register a living being ever truly inhabits.
