Lachesis is the second of the three Moirai, the apportioner who measures with her rod the length of thread her sister Clotho spins. She determines how long each mortal shall live and what destiny shall fall to them. In Plato's vision she sings of things that are, allotting to each soul the lot it draws before it is born again.
