Atef Crown
The tall white crown of Osiris flanked by ostrich plumes, worn by gods of the dead and during sacred rites of resurrection.
The atef was the tall white crown of Osiris flanked by two ostrich plumes, sometimes set on ram horns. It joined Upper Egypt's white crown to feathers linked with truth, and it marked the gods of the dead: Osiris and Sokar wore it as their own, Horus could wear it too, and pharaohs donned it during sacred rites of resurrection.
One version of Book of the Dead spell 175 tells that on the first day Osiris wore it, its heat made his head swell, and Ra had to drain it. In The Journey Through the Duat and Osiris: King of the Dead, it crowns Osiris on his underworld throne.
