River Styx
The sacred boundary between the living world and the realm of the dead.
The Styx was the most sacred of the five rivers of the Underworld. Even the gods swore by it, an oath on the Styx was unbreakable, and to break it was to suffer divine punishment. The ferryman Charon carried souls across its dark waters, demanding payment; those who could not pay wandered its banks for a hundred years. Achilles' invulnerability came from being dipped in its waters as an infant.
