Telemachus is the son of Odysseus and Penelope, a boy grown to manhood under the shadow of his father's twenty-year absence. Guided by Athena, he sails to Pylos and Sparta seeking word of Odysseus among the returned kings. Home again, he stands at his father's side in the hall and helps slaughter the suitors who plagued their house.
